about

This song was recorded with Gene Rankin about 3 years ago now. It features some great guitar work by Rick Melanson and bass by Doug Rooks. I found this goodie while digging through a pile of old blank CD's. It was project that got started but was never finished.

lyrics

A thought passed me by on a summers day
We're born to believe in things that don't change
an inch to mile to hours to days
the tv set to an earth bound sage

Turn out the darkness and let the light in
Open the window let the light spill in
Kick down the barricades that keep us contained
behind those eyes learn to refram

You spend all your life depressed and afraid
of purpose and value there's so much to say
embrace the spirit embrace the change
behind your fears and thoughts of decay

A nickel a dollar its all the same
these walls that contain us never restrain
these prisons that hold us can be tamed
Our choice is to choose not to betray

Turn out the darkness and let the light in
Open the window let the light spill in
Kick down the barricades that keep us contained
behind those eyes learn to refram

The world we experience rattles our psyche’s jarring us into states of frenzied angst, dissolution and musical explosions, while whispering hope through the trees and rippling through clear blue lakes of the Canadian Shield around us. We are driven by elusive sounds of peace and the belief that groove is life! ... more
